Music Industry conglomerate – informational
Abstract
This project involved the design and development of the MASTERWORKS LIVE! website, a digital platform representing one of the fastest-growing groups in live entertainment. The site brings together multiple companies specializing in music, theater, film, gaming, anime, experiential retail, and location-based entertainment under a single, cohesive brand experience. The objective was to communicate the scale and diversity of the collective while maintaining a clear, engaging, and responsive user experience.
Problem
MASTERWORKS LIVE! is not a single production company—it is a collective of specialized businesses operating across multiple entertainment sectors. The website needed to communicate this breadth without overwhelming visitors or diluting the identity of each company.
The primary challenge was creating a digital experience that could:
- Present a large portfolio of entertainment companies within one unified platform.
- Reinforce the MASTERWORKS LIVE! brand while allowing each company to maintain its own identity.
- Encourage exploration of the collective’s capabilities through an engaging, visual interface.
- Support desktop and mobile users with consistent navigation and performance.
Design Goals
Design an interface that invites users to discover each company, rather than simply browse a directory.
Develop a structure capable of supporting additional companies, projects, and future content without requiring significant redesign.
Create a visual system that represents the collective as a single organization while showcasing the individuality of each member company.
Concept Development
The visual direction was inspired by the idea of a living entertainment ecosystem rather than a traditional corporate website.
Instead of organizing information into static pages, the experience emphasizes movement between brands, allowing visitors to understand how each organization contributes to the larger collective.
Large imagery, cinematic transitions, and immersive layouts reinforce the scale of the organization while supporting the premium positioning of Sony Music Masterworks’ live entertainment division.
Experience Design
The experience emphasizes visual storytelling over traditional corporate navigation.
Key UX decisions included:
- Large editorial-style imagery to establish emotional impact.
- Progressive scrolling that introduces the organization before revealing individual companies.
- Interactive company profiles that encourage exploration without interrupting the browsing experience.
- Consistent visual rhythm that balances information density with readability.
The result is a website that feels more like an interactive brand presentation than a conventional corporate directory.
Technical Implementation
The site was developed using a modular architecture designed for long-term maintainability and content scalability.
Implementation priorities included:
Component-based page construction for reusable content sections.
Flexible content management to accommodate updates as the collective grows.
Accessibility-conscious structure to improve navigation and readability.
The modular approach enables new companies, initiatives, and content to be integrated into the platform while preserving visual consistency.
Outcome
The finished website positions MASTERWORKS LIVE! as a unified global entertainment organization while celebrating the diversity of its individual companies. Through immersive storytelling, modular architecture, and responsive implementation, the platform functions as both a corporate presence and a showcase for the collective’s creative capabilities.
The project demonstrates how thoughtful information architecture and scalable front-end development can transform a complex organizational structure into a clear and engaging digital experience.
